The Island’s Summer League concluded on 23 July with the top two teams from both groups meeting in the semi-finals, followed immediately by the final.

In the first semi-final, Thane Taylor & Joshua Peake (The Giants) beat James & Josh Helyer (The Hits).

In the second it was Alex Rorke & Albie Yeung (The Thorneys) who beat Gareth & Ollie Lewis (The Oddballs). Both semi-finals were very close, with each match ending 3-2.

The final was dominated by Alex Rorke, who won this tournament last year with a different partner.

Alex is really difficult to beat, despite having to give a points start to other players, as the tournament was handicapped.

It was no surprise that the Thorneys (pictured at top of page) beat the Giants 4-1. It has to be added that the Giants are teenagers, but very promising young players.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable tournament. Thanks to Rob Smith for organising it once again.
