Eight new Vice-Presidents, including club stalwarts, England internationals and a ‘super-volunteer’, were among the honours announced during Table Tennis England’s online AGM.

Among them are Trevor Taylor, an England international and Men’s Singles national champion who was part of the historic Ping Pong Diplomacy tour of China in 1971.

Fellow England international and five-time Women’s Singles national champion Nicola Perry is also honoured.

Eli Baraty, John Dennison and Jason Ramage are recognised for their contributions in both the club and coach development spaces.

Table Tennis England Director Jos Kelly and Dan Tilley, Director of Sport and the University of Nottingham, are honoured for their contributions to the sport.

And Howard Brialey, who has become a volunteer mainstay at a series of major events since the London Olympics and Paralympic – including this year’s World Championships – also becomes a Vice-President.

Table Tennis England appoints Vice-Presidents for significant personal service as a volunteer, player, staff member or partner, normally over a period of at least 10 years and at national level. A special contribution over a shorter period could also qualify, as could service at local level over a period of about 20 years.

The appointment of all eight Vice-Presidents was unanimously approved at the Table Tennis England AGM last night.

Along with the new Vice-Presidents, a number of other annual honours were announced, including the Keith Ponting President’s Memorial Award for exceptionally long and outstanding service to Table Tennis England, which went to former ETTA Finance Director Martin Clark.

Richard Scruton, Chair of Table Tennis International Events, won the Malcolm Scott Award for his outstanding service in relation to the London 2026 World Championships.

Sally Hughes was acknowledged with a Special Award for her exceptional contribution to the development of women’s and Girls’ table tennis.

The other awards went to:

  • Ivor Montagu Award: Tony Dias
  • Leslie Forrest Memorial Trophy: Janet Adams
  • AK Vint OBE Staff Award: Jade Griffiths
  • Johnny Leach MBE Most Improved England Player Award: Connor Green
  • Victor Barna Award: Bly Twomey
