The Isle of Wight Table Tennis Association is delighted to hear of Red Funnel’s formal recognition of talented 19-year-old player Ryan Cates as an Island Ambassador for 2026. 

Not only is he an outstanding young table tennis player who is keen to learn and develop his game, but his passion, positive attitude and his mature and sporting manner is a great example to younger players.

Ryan (pictured above) is the current Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Junior champion, as well as the Southampton Junior champion. His main goal for 2026 is to rise up the national rankings, protect his titles and achieve his ultimate goal of becoming a professional player.

Ryan is delighted with this recognition of both his potential and his achievements.
