Dimitar Dimitrov is into the quarter-finals of the Under-13 Boys’ Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Linz in Austria.

Seeded third, Dimitrov topped his group with a maximum of four wins, though one was a walkover, and did not drop a game.

He will face Kirill Manalaki of Germany in the quarter-finals on Friday afternoon.

In the Under-17 Boys’ Singles, Kacper Piwowar (pictured above) and Abraham Sellado were seeded seventh and 12th respectively but went out in the early rounds.

After both topping their groups with 100% records, they received byes into the last 32, where Sellado was eliminated by Jan Skalda of Czechia, who is ranked 27 places below him at No 204 in the Junior world rankings.

Piwowar (WR 146) went further, reaching the last 16 but falling to Lowis Vogler of Switzerland (WR 182).

The Under-19 singles competitions, featuring Jakub Piwowar and Ella Pashley, begin on Saturday, while Dimitrov will also compete in the under-15s starting the same day.

In the Under-19 Mixed Doubles, Jakub Piwowar & Pashley teamed up but were knocked out in the first round by Uros Ninkovic & Maja Vanjo of Serbia.

Jersey’s Hannah Silcock, playing alongside Jacopo Cipriano of Italy, made it into the last 32 with a win over a Slovenia pair, before going out to 10th seeds Mark Gergely & Judit Nagy of Hungary.

Also competing in Linz is Scotland’s Kiishi Adekola, who went out in the Under-17 Girls’ Singles group stage, having won one of her three matches. She will also compete in the Under-15 Girls’ Singles beginning on Saturday.

Five young English talents are joined by athletes from Jersey and Scotland at the first European WTT Youth Contender of the year in Linz starting tomorrow.

Brothers Kacper and Jakub Piwowar, fresh from tasting victory at the Cliffedale Chandlers 4* at the weekend, will compete alongside Abraham Sellado, Ella Pashley and Dimitar Dimitrov – the latter was also a category winner at the 4*.

Kacper and Abraham are in the under-17 competition and are highly ranked, with Kacper the seventh seed and Abraham 12th.

Kacper will face the host nation’s Seung Chen and Hungary’s Simon Zsigmond in his group, with Abraham up against Svit Kadunc of Slovenia and Andrei Tibirna of Romania.

Jakub is one of the lower ranked players in the under-19s, which features four top-50 ranked juniors, headed by Portugal’s Tiago Abiodun, a bronze medallist at the European Youth Championships. The draw has yet to be made for this age group.

Ella is also in the under-19 age group, which features eight top-50 Juniors. Ella is ranked just below halfway in the field and has been drawn in Group 3, where she faces third seed Maria Berzosa of Spain and Vivien Tamas of Romania.

Meanwhile, Dimitar will compete in both the under-13 and under-15 age groups. He is the third seed in the under-13s and has four other players in his group.

As well as singles competitions, Pashley & Jakub Piwowar form a pair in the Under-19 Mixed Doubles

Also taking to the court in Austria will be GB pathway players Hannah Silcock of Jersey (under-19s) and Scotland’s Kiishi Adekola (under-15s and under-17s). Kiishi is third-ranked in a group of four in the Under-17 Girls’ Singles, against opponents from Austria, Romania and Czechia. Silcock is in Group 2 in the Under-19s and will face second seed Nina Guo Zheng of France and Iarina Precup of Romania.
