Dimitar Dimitrov and Rishaan Sawant both won bronze medals at the WTT Youth Contender Senec in Slovakia.

Both won their groups in the Under-13 Boys’ Singles with three wins out of three, with Sawant beating third seed Taavi Samaraweera of Sri Lanka in three straight. Dimitrov, seeded second, did not drop a game in his group.

Having won through their last-16 clashes 3-0, both boys won tight quarter-finals 3-2.

But they were unable to take a place in the final as both lost their semis in four, Sawant to top seed Filip Nagy of the host nation and Dimitrov to fourth seed Marcos Gomez of Spain. Gomez went on to beat Nagy 3-0 (17-15, 12-10, 12-10) in the final.

Elsewhere in the competition, Max Radiven had some good wins in the Under-17s, reaching the last 16 by beating higher-ranked Pavol Kokavec of the host nation in the last 64, coming from 2-0 down and winning the third 16-14 on his way to turning the match arounds.

He followed up by defeating seventh seed Jakub Holubcik, also of Slovakia, in the last 32 before exiting to another higher-ranked player, Dario Salcedo of Spain.

Kacper Piwowar reached the last 32, losing to fourth seed Adam Wallin of Sweden, while Rohan Dani went out at the same stage to a Chinese opponent.

Aarav Parihar and Theo Kniep went out in the round of 64, while Oscar Nikolli and Jake Davidson went out in the groups. Unranked Kniep beat world No 239 Junior Erik Paulina of Italy in the group stage.

In the Under-15s, Dimitrov and Nikolli got through to the knockouts, the former being knocked out in the round of 64 by the No 2 seed from China and the latter in the round of 32 by a higher-ranked Swedish opponent, having had a bye in the last 64. Davidson, Parihar and Kniep went out in the groups.

In the Under-19s, Dani got through to the last 64, losing to Czechia’s lower-ranked Jan Skalda. Radiven and Piwowar went out in the group stage, though Radiven had a good match before losing to top seed Samuel Arpas 3-0 (11-5, 20-18, 11-9).
