There’s something special happening in Canterbury this summer—and it’s not just the sunshine.
On Saturday 14th June 2025, Canterbury Table Tennis Club, in collaboration with Table Tennis Parkinson Kent Society, is hosting a Parkinson’s Awareness Table Tennis Tournament at the Prince of Wales Youth Club’s Sports Hall. And it’s shaping up to be more than just a day of rallies and smashes—it’s a celebration of community, connection, and the life-changing power of sport.
The tournament is all about raising awareness of Parkinson’s and showing just how beneficial table tennis can be—not only for fitness, but for focus, coordination, and most importantly, fun.
It’s part of a growing movement recognising the positive impact of table tennis on people living with Parkinson’s. The gentle yet dynamic nature of the game makes it ideal for improving movement, balance and wellbeing—and the social side of it? That’s just as important.

Canterbury TTC is fast becoming a local hub for this kind of activity. By opening its doors to more inclusive events like this, the club is proving that table tennis isn’t just a sport—it’s a community.
“It’s fantastic to see clubs like Canterbury leading the way in inclusive activity,” said Alan Lane, Area Manager at Table Tennis England. “Table tennis has a unique ability to bring people together and support both physical and mental wellbeing. Events like this not only raise awareness, they also show what’s possible when local clubs and community groups work hand-in-hand.”
Spaces are limited and filling fast, so if you or someone you know is interested, don’t hang about—get that entry form in soon! A waiting list will be in place if numbers go over capacity, and entrants will be contacted a few days beforehand to confirm their spot.
Whether you’re a player, supporter or just curious to see what it’s all about, come down and be part of something brilliant. Because at Canterbury TTC, it’s not just about the table—it’s about the people around it.
