It’s day two of the Mark Bates Ltd Cadet & Under-17 National Championships at David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham.
Today is the turn of the Cadets (Under-15s), with champions to be crowned in Boys’ Singles, Girls’ Singles and two doubles competitions.

4.55pm: Two wonderful doubles finals both go to five. In the boys, Oscar Nikolli & Nishil Shah beat Zihan Lin & Malek Shamakh 3-2 (9-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6) and in the girls, Assil Sarri & Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska beat Amber Lemmon & Alyssa Nguyen 3-2 (5-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7).
4.20pm: Top seeds Amber Lemmon & Alyssa Nguyen fought past Maisha Patel & Bethany Yang 3-0 (12-0, 12-10, 15-13) to set up a final against second seeds Assil Sarri & Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska, who beat Hannah Saunders & Grace Liu 3-2 (9-11, 11-8, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6).
4.15pm: Zihan Lin & Malek Shamakh were bronze medallists in the singles but will go at least one better together in the doubles – they have knocked out top seeds Dimitar Dimitrov & Pablo Ramirez Rioja 3-1 (11-8, 11-5, 3-11, 11-6) to reach the final. They will face second seeds Oscar Nikolli & Nishil Shah, who beat Theo Kniep & Rishaan Sawant 3-0 (11-6, 12-10, 11-7).

3.40pm: Hannah Saunders & Grace Liu beat Zeina Negm & Isabelly Lorrana in four (17-15, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6) to reach the semi-finals – they play Assil Sarri & Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska. Maisha Patel & Bethany Yang beat Ruby Gandi Bamidele & Serene Rahmani-Walentynska 3-2 (8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 4-11, 11-5) to go through to play Amber Lemmon & Alyssa Nguyen.

3.40pm: The other boys’ semi will see Theo Kniep & Rishaan Sawant face second seeds Oscar Nikolli & Nishil Shah. Kniep & Sawant had to battle past Dhruv Datta & Louis Green 3-2 (6-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-6, 11-3).
3.35pm: Girls’ Doubles top seeds Amber Lemmon & Alyssa Nguyen through to the semis with a win over Hazel Lam & Sakinah Damji, while second seeds Assil Sarri & Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska make it though against Gaia Wong & Zoe Gonpot.
3.30pm: Top seeds Dimitar Dimitrov & Pablo Ramirez Rioja are safely into the Boys’ Doubles semi-finals, beating Nikolas Karavas & Soumyajit Dasgupta. They will play Malek Shamakh & Zihan Lin, victors over Finley Aitken & Sinan Surensoy.
2.30pm: The doubles competitions are under way.
Singles

2.10pm: Top seed Hannah Saunders saves two match points in the fourth and goes on to take the trophy with a 3-2 (11-4, 6-11, 9-11, 13-11, 11-5) win over fourth seed Amber Lemmon.

1.55pm: Top seed Dimitar Dimitrov ends the great run of unseeded Zihan Lin to win the boys’ title – it was 3-1 (11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 11-9).

1.25pm: Hannah Saunders and Amber Lemmon will meet in the girls’ final. Lemmon saved a match point in beating yesterday’s U17 champion Alyssa Nguyen 12-10 in the fifth, while Saunders defeated Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska in four.
1.20pm: Top seed Dimitar Dimitrov will meet unseeded Zihan Lin in the boys’ final – they got through by beating Rishaan Sawant and Malek Shamakh respectively.
12.52pm: Dimitrov beat eighth seed Ryan Goodier in four, while Zihan Lin beat Theo Kniep in the last quarter-final to finish.
12.50pm: More shocks in the boys’ event as fourth seed Ryan Holland falls to Malek Shamakh, who wins 3-2 (11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 7-11, 11-7). Meanwhile, third seed Oscar Nikolli is beaten by fifth seed Rishaan Sawant 3-1 (13-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-3). Only Sawant and top seed Dimitar Dimitrov remain of the seeds.


12.45pm: The top four girls seeds are into the semi-finals, all in three games.
12.18pm: We also saw sixth seed Sinan Surensoy, a semi-finalist yesterday, knocked out by Theo Kniep, who triumphed 3-2 (11-9, 7-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9); eighth seed Ryan Goodier knocked out seventh seed Harrison Hill 3-2 (13-11, 9-11, 14-12, 9-11, 11-3).
12.15pm: Big news in the Boys’ Round of 16 – second seed Pablo Ramirez Rioja is out, going down 3-2 (5-11, 15-13, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8) at the hands of Zihan Lin from the Archway Peterborough club.

12.10pm: No upsets in the Girls’ Round of 16, though fifth seed Assil Sarri was troubled by Zoe Gonpot before winning 3-2 (11-2, 8-11, 13-15, 11-2, 11-5). All the other matches were decided in three except Serene Rahmani-Walentynska defeating Zeina Negm 3-1 (11-5, 11-9, 6-11, 11-4) to set up a tie against her older sister Soraya – for the second day running.
Group stages
11.42am: The top two are reversed in Boys’ Group 7, where Harry Tomlinson got above Harrison Hill, beating him 3-1 (12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7); Ryan Goodier and Theo Kniep go through as expected from Boys’ Group 8, though Kniep had to beat Louis Green 3-2 (11-6, 12-10, 5-11, 6-11, 11-5). Goodier beat Kniep 3-2 (11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-6).

11.40am: Dimitar Dimitrov and Malek Shamakh are through Boys’ Group 1 as per seeding, though Shamakh had to dig in to beat Mustafa Ibrahim 3-2 (8-11, 11-13, 11-6, 11-9, 11-3); In Boys’ Group 4, which had three players, it was Ryan Holland and Aaron Wong who advanced, Holland beating Wong 3-2 (12-14, 12-14, 11-7, 11-5, 12-10).
11.37am: The three-player Girls Group 7 sees Bethany Yang and Nyasha Roberts go through, while in Girls’ Group 8, top two Cindy Xiao and Maisha Patel advanced. The other two players in that group played out a cracking match, Suhayla Ali Farah defeating Mila Gao 3-2 (11-5, 15-17, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9).
11.34am: Girls’ Group 6 – Zoe Gonpot rises from third to second, behind group winner Serene Rahmani-Walentynska. Gonpot defeated Chloe Kniep 3-1 (8-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-7) to take the runners-up spot.

11.32am: Sienna Svoboda gets above the higher-ranked Hazel Lam to gr through from Girls’ Group 5 behind group winner Assil Sarri. The runners-up spot was decided on countback after Svoboda, Lam and Sophie Dodds all won one match. Svoboda taking a game off Lam proved crucial in the end.
11.30am: Oscar Nikoli and Zihan Lin through as predicted from Boys’ Group 3; the top two went through the three-player Boys’ Group 2 – Pablo Ramire Rioja and Noah Byrne-Smith.
11.26am: Top two Rishaan Sawant and Nishil Shah go through from Boys’ Group 5 as expected. They played out a five-setter in their meeting, won 3-2 (11-9, 11-6, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6) by Sawant.

11.23am: Lusio Wen causes an upset in Boys’ Group 6 as he defeats higher-ranked Saisuriya Prasanna Kumar 3-1 (6-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6) to go above him and qualify behind group winner Sinan Surensoy. Wen also beat Dhruv Datta 3-2 (11-8, 8-11, 11-13, 11-7, 11-7).
11.20am: Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska and Gaia Wong qualify as expected from Girls’ Group 3; while Amber Lemmon and Zeina Negm are safely through Girls’ Group 4.
11.18am: Girls’ Group 2 – yesterday’s Under-17 champion Alyssa Nguyen also has no problems going through and she is joined by Mindy Gao from Ormesby, as per ranking.
11.15am: Girls’ Group 1 – top seed Hannah Saunders goes through with no alarms, but Sakinah Damji gets above higher-ranked Isabelly Lorrana with a 3-0 (13-11, 11-6, 11-9) victory to go through in second.
