England youngster Kacper Piwowar has once again shown his fantastic potential at the ETTU talent camp, achieving the top evaluation spot and therefore being selected for the ITTF Hopes Week & Challenge Project.

Piwowar was selected to attend the ITTF World Hopes Week & Challenge in Jordan last year, but was unfortunate in contracting covid shortly before and was unable to attend.

Since then, Piwowar has continued to work hard and has had some great results at WTT events in France and Portugal. The young table tennis player is currently ranked 13th in the world for the under-13 boys category.

In addition to this, Piwowar has recently been selected for the new GB Table Tennis Junior Development Squad alongside Ben Piggot and Toby Ellis.

Also at the selection camp was Abraham Sellado who finished in 4th place behind Kacper Piwowar, Miroslav Schmidt of Bulgaria and Matt Closset of Belgium.

Just missing out on selection, Sellado will be invited for final Eurotalents Selection Camp in Otocec in Slovenia from October 16th to 23rd.

I feel very privileged to be a part of that result with Kacper. I was there for him and Abraham throughout the week; he played extremely well, fought hard, listened very carefully and learnt a lot. He was able to implement some of the things we’ve done and have been working on at WTT events in France and Portugal. He’s made big strides, and made the team again. Last year he wasn’t able to take his spot in Jordan due to covid, but this year hopefully he will be able to take his spot in the World Hopes Team. Well done Kacper!

GB TABLE TENNIS COACH, Ryan Jenkins

We asked Kacper how he felt about his recent success:

It is an honour to be selected again for the ITTF Hopes challenge week. I was so happy to get the top evaluation spot.

I was selected last year, but got covid just a day before my trip to Jordan. I was very disappointed, but I was told to stay strong, carry on my hard work and one day I would get another chance.

I went to the camp a little bit nervous as I really wanted to be selected again, but now I feel so happy and I cannot wait for the camp!
