It’s been six months since we launched our five-year Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, Level the Table!

Designed to tackle inequality in table tennis, Level the Table is the springboard to help us achieve our overarching ambition of being a world leading National Governing Body, delivering a diverse and dynamic sport that transforms lives, connects communities and achieves excellence.

Reflecting across the past six months since the strategy launch, we have reached some key milestones and taken a review of where to dedicate our focus, making a commitment to work towards gender parity across all areas of the sport. You can see an updated version of the Level the Table strategy here.

Working closely with partners, we are committed to improving people’s access to the sport; over the past six months we have strengthened partnerships with British Para Table Tennis and will continue to develop opportunities for Disabled People and for those working with Disabled People in sport.

Using the Level the Table Grant Scheme, we have also funded projects to take table tennis to new people. We received 162 applications and after blindly assessing applications we awarded funding to 62 projects. The total amount we funded is just over £55,000.

The successful projects have the opportunity to engage and reach around 9,000* new participants. 31% of successful projects are taking part in the top 20% of deprived areas (LSEG).

Whilst we have made progress against our Level the Table strategy there is still lots of work to be done. We acknowledge that sustainable change takes time, but we are committed to the journey.
