National Competition Review

The National Competition Review is a comprehensive review of what is needed from the competitive structure – a fundamental rethink of the framework and events, and how they fit together.

The National Competition Review attempts to deliver the right format, frequency, location and standard of competition across all demographics, for existing and potential members and creates a blueprint to deliver a fully ‘fit-for-purpose’ competition programme for the future growth and success of table tennis, with;

  • Strong competitive opportunities for all young players with a clear pathway of opportunities to support progression
  • More local opportunities for players of all ages and abilities
  • A local competition calendar that supports a structured national calendar
  • Experiential development to prepare players for international events
  • Support equality, diversity and inclusion objectives

The National Competition Review has been split into five stages which have been developed over the last 2 years. Phases 1-3 of the review have been developed since the 21/22 season and implementation began in season 23/24 (Phase 4), and continued into season 24/25 (Phase 5). Planned completion will happen in season 25/26.
