Jasmin Wong and Louis Price are crowned Junior National Cup winners in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

Only a few games were taken off Wong today, and she finished the weekend unbeaten and never looking like she was going to budge from the top of the leader board.

She took the title in round 8 after she beat Megan Jones decisively 3-0, despite Jones being just two points behind her going into the match.

Scarlett Anders and Megan Jones also had good weekends in the competition, coming second and third respectively. Jones looked really strong in the first few rounds today – 3-0 against Darcie Proud and 3-1 against Bethany Ellis and Amy Marriott.

Louis Price’s road to retaining his title as Junior National Cup champion was more challenging, suffering a heavy 3-0 loss to Joshua Bruce in the first round of today before going on to win his next three.

Price was pitted against Ben Piggott in the last round, both tied on 15 points at the top going into the match. Unfortunately for Piggott, Price gave him absolutely nothing and won 3-0 (12-10, 11-4, 11-4). Piggot finished second overall.

Felix Thomis and Joseph Hunter both finished on 15 points, but Thomis was given third place due to beating Hunter 3-1 in their head to head.  

U15 and U19 National Champion, Larry Trumpauskas, gave us some great table tennis across the weekend. Today he came close to beating Ben Pigott with a couple of match points, and also looked like he could take Louis Price as well – both finishing 3-2 against him.

Cadet player Jakub Piwowar also looked dangerous and was unfortunate to finish at the bottom, taking sets off all but one player he came up against and winning in straight sets twice.
