Dimitar Dimitrov was on the podium at WTT Youth Contender Tunis, winning bronze for reaching the Under-15 Boys’ Singles semi-finals.

The 13-year-old was seeded third and won through the group stage and early knockout rounds with four 3-0 victories over opponents from the host nation.

He faced Abdulrahman Al Taher of Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals, who also had not dropped a game up to that point.

The second seed, who at No 198 on the world junior rankings list is 205 places above Dimitrov, won the match 3-1 (11-4, 11-7, 10-12, 12-10) and went on to lose to top seed Emil Ellermann of Sweden in the final.

Dimitrov also competed in the Under-17 Boys’ Singles and got through his group with two wins out of three, losing out to fifth seed Aaron Sahr of Luxembourg but beating opponents from Tunisia and Libya.

He was beaten in the round of 16 by Albin Ingestrom of Sweden (WR 205), though it was close in the first two games as Dimitrov saved two game points in the first and one in the second before losing 3-0 (13-11, 12-10, 11-6).
