Tom Jarvis went out in the quarter-finals of WTT Feeder Cappadocia in Turkiye to eventual champion Csaba Andrea of Hungary.
Top seed Jarvis (WR 69) is still hunting his first WTT title after losing out to fifth seed Andras (WR 92).
Andras took five points in a row from 4-4 in the first to set the platform for taking that game amd then added the second 11-9.
Jarvis hit back in the third, which he won 11-8 and both players led the fourth before Andras won the next two points at 9-9 to seal victory. He went on to take the title, beating Mattias Karlsson of Sweden in the semi-finals and Croatia’s Ivor Ban in the final.
In the last 16, Jarvis had after a four-game win over Ioannis Sgouropoulos of Greece. He pulled away from 5-5 to win the first game 11-8 and then saw a run of five successive points in the middle of the second set up that game for him, 11-5.
Sgouropoulos, ranked 402 but who has been much higher, hit back with a run of seven to take the third 11-5, and he led for most of the fourth, including by 8-4. But he did not win another point, despite taking his timeout at 8-7, and Jarvis went through to the last eight.
Jarvis got off to a winning start against local youngster Gorkem Ocal (WR 232) in the Round of 32, as the WTT circuit went back to the Turkish venue which also hosted an event in February.
Jarvis was 5-2 down in the first but came back to win it 11-9 and he never trailed in the second. Ocal had defeated Sam Walker in a decider at the February event and he clawed his way back into this match by leading throughout the third, which he took 11-5.
At 5-4 to Jarvis in the fourth, Ocal was still in the game, but the English No 1 reeled off the next six points to seal his victory.
