August 1 marks the first day of the 2026/27 season, bringing with it important changes to competitions, regulations and rankings.

The biggest development for the new season is the launch of TTEs new Gender Eligibility policy which applies to all regulated competitions, and means changes to all competitions at national-ranked level.

This will affect all organisers and all participants – further information can be seen here: Table Tennis England Gender Eligibility Policy published – Table Tennis England including detailed guidelines on how the new policy applies to membership, competition and ranking

TTE Regulations have been republished to reflect the Gender Eligibility Policy and also general updates across all competitions Articles and regulations – Table Tennis England ‘Tournaments Explained’ has been similarly updated and expanded for the new season, and this essential ‘one stop shop’ resource for organisers and players can be seen here Tournament organiser – Table Tennis England

The Ranking Guidelines have been republished for the new season to include annual housekeeping updates. This includes the following developments:

  • Ranking List eligibility (England-only) has evolved slightly to align more closely with National Championships eligibility (England-only), and new requires a full TTE membership as well as English nationality
  • ‘Starter Ranking Points’, the 100pts beginner incentive for those who are new to ranking competitions, will now apply automatically to all entrants in all regulated events who do not yet have a ranking, and who do not achieve the critical mass of eligible matches and wins to be awarded an Initial Ranking calculation in their first ranking period

The 2026/27 ranking run dates and the 2026/27 season-opening rankings will be released after the August ranking run on Wednesday 6 August, and will include the transition of final-year Cadets to Juniors, and final-year Juniors to Seniors

In general competition news, the Pathway Development Cup and Girls’ Cadet British Clubs League are now established in the TTE competition calendar Competition calendars – Table Tennis England after inaugural events last season, and the first Senior 4* of the season takes place 22-23 August in Liverpool.
