Ping Power – that’s the name of the game for an event aiming to attract more women and girls to have a go at table tennis.

A group of women Newbury League players are running the all-female fun day at Kintbury Jubilee Centre on 15 November, in a bid to help to narrow the large gender gap in the sport.

Beginners and existing players (all levels) from age 11 upwards are welcome, with the day being split into two halves – juniors (aged 11-18) from 10am to 1pm and adults from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

One of the organisers, Mary Cherowbrier said: “We want to spread the word that table tennis is a great game for females. You don’t need to be super fit to take it up – almost anyone can play. It’s a low-cost sport, very enjoyable and sociable.”

Entry costs £5 for adults and £2.50 for juniors. Basic coaching will be offered, with bats provided if needed. All standards are welcome, including complete beginners.
