England dominated the Veterans Home Nations Championships hosted by Jersey, winning a clutch of gold medals including seven of the eight team golds.

Jason Ramage and Andy Wilkinson struck gold in the Over-40s Men’s Team, with Wales taking silver and Scotland bronze. It was the same top two in the corresponding Women’s Team category as Zoe Pilarek Cheesman and Nicola Duke took gold for England. Guernsey completed the podium.

In the Over-50s Teams, England’s Adrian Pilgrim and Darren Griffin were the Men’s champions, ahead of Scotland and Wales, while Clare Styles and Becky Hurrell took the Women’s title, with an identical podium.

The Over-60s Men’s Team was won by Tim Dyson and Paul Giles, again with Scotland second and Wales third. The Women’s Team saw Scotland as champions, ahead of Ireland, while England’s Sue Pingram and Tulay Dundar had to settle for bronze.

There was gold for England in the Over-70s Open event as Phil Bowen and David Tiplady finished first ahead of Scotland and Ireland, while in the Over-75s Open, Stuart Seaholme and Derek Balding won gold for England, ahead of Ireland and Guernsey.

The singles medals saw a more even spread among the Home Nations, but England still won four of the nine available.

Jason Ramage was the Over-50s Men’s gold, defeating compatriot Stephen Horsfield in the final, and Tulay Dundar won the Over-60s Women’s category, beating Anne-Marie Nugent of Ireland in the final.

Phil Bowen beat team-mate David Tiplady to win the O70 Men’s title, and Stuart Seaholme  overcame Scotland’s Geoff Salter to take the O75 Men’s title.

There were silvers for Nicola Duke, who was beaten by Laura Horswell of Wales in the O40 Women’s final, and Adrian Pilgrim, who lost out to Brian Jeanes of Wales in the O60 Men.

The other gold medallists were Mariusz Cieminski of Jersey (O40 Men), Melissa Cheung of Scotland (O50 Women) and Catherine Inverarity of Jersey (O70 Women).

In the doubles, there were six gold medals for England, including winning both the O40 categories – Jason Ramage & Andy Wilkinson beating Mariusz Cieminski & Miguel Freitas of Jersey in the Men’s final and Zoe Pilarek Cheesman & Nicola Duke overcoming Wales’ Bhanu Sabaratnam & Laura Horswell in the Women’s.

In the Over-50s, Stephen Horsfield of England partnered with Colin Green of Scotland to win the Men’s final against Rick Beattie & Adrian Jones of Wales. Clare Styles & Beccy Hurrell won gold for England in the O50 Women’s class as they saw off Lynne Harrison Bowen & Tracey Sambrook of Wales in the final.

The other English golds were for Phil Bowen & David Tiplady in the O70 Open class, defeating Peter Aird & Roy Claxton of Scotland, and for Johnny Clarke alongside Scotland’s Geoff Salter in the O75 Open, beating Derek Balding & Stuart Seaholme of England.

There was also a silver for Darren Griffin & Adrian Pilgrim in the O60 Men’s class, losing out to Gerry Campbell & Alan Whitton of Scotland.

The O60 Women’s event was won by Kay Chivers of Guernsey & Sharon Gibbons or Ireland, beating Ger Green & Anne-Marie Nugent of Ireland.
