A great first taste of competition close to home.

Kirkby Stephen TTC is hosting the Cumbria 1★ competition on 1 November 2026, welcoming cadet, junior and senior players to a full day of table tennis in Cumbria.

For cadets and juniors aged 11–19, this is a chance to try open competition in a friendly, local setting. Players can experience the excitement of competing beyond their regular club sessions, meet players from other clubs and build confidence in a supportive environment—without needing to travel far. It’s an ideal first step for young players who are curious about competition but may not yet feel ready for a larger event.

The tournament is designed to give players close matches and plenty of play. Competitors will be placed in ability bands, from Band 1 for more experienced players to Band 7 for younger or less experienced participants. Players compete in groups of seven or eight, facing everyone in their group, so they’ll get several matches across the day. Medals will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each band.

The competition is open to all junior players under 18, and clubs across the North West are encouraged to bring along their players. Players from further afield are welcome too. As a One Star event, it also gives players the opportunity to earn Table Tennis England ranking points while gaining valuable match experience.

Entry fees: £20 for cadets and juniors; £25 for seniors. Players need a valid playing licence: a Table Tennis England Compete membership (free for under-11s and £11 for other juniors) or a single-day tournament licence (£5 for juniors and free for under-11s).

There’s a viewing gallery for spectators, with refreshments available throughout the day.
