The first weekend of this season’s Veterans Premier Division was held at Ashford TTC and ended with a familiar look.
Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, the top two teams in recent years, once again lead the divisional table – both counties completed comfortable victories in their three matches over the weekend.
Reigning champions Yorkshire recorded 8-2 victories over both this season’s new counties, Lancashire and Sussex, and completed their weekend by overwhelming Essex 9-1.
Runners up over the last two seasons, Nottinghamshire also had a strong weekend with 7-3 victories over Hertfordshire and Kent as well as a thumping 10-0 victory over Essex.
By virtue of the scoring system, it is Yorkshire who lead the way after the first three rounds of fixtures with 12 points and hold a two-point lead over Nottinghamshire.
Hertfordshire and Middlesex both on 7pts are next in the table after the first weekend with two wins apiece from their three matches.
Lancashire secured one win over Sussex and are in fifth place. Kent, Sussex and Essex all lost all their three matches and occupy places sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
