Several former England internationals rolled back the years to complete a 24-hour table tennis marathon – and smashed their fundraising target for Cancer Research UK.
Karenza and Ken Mathews hosted the event over the weekend of 5-6 April at their hotel, The Grange at Oborne. It started at 11 am on the Saturday and finished 24 hours later.
Playing in the event were Linda and Nicky Jarvis, Sue Henderson, Jill and Don Parker, Barry Hill and Di Pearce – together with players from local leagues and many volunteers from the village of Oborne and the surrounding area: a total of about 70 players took to the table.
You can see them in action in this video:
Karenza and Ken organised the day after Karenza recovered from endometrial cancer. They are delighted with the support the event received, not only in terms of player participation but for the funds raised for Cancer Research UK, which has so far exceeded £8,500 – well over double their initial target of £3,000.
There is still time to boost the funds – click the button below to visit the fundraising page.
