Connor Green reached a singles quarter-final and a doubles semi-final at the WTT Youth Star Contender Podgorica in Montenegro, where GB duo Anna Hursey & Sophie Earley won the girls’ doubles.

The trio are members of the current GB Junior Squad and they competed in the Under-19 events, and Green & Earley also formed a mixed doubles pair.

Hursey & Earley combined to win the girls’ doubles, beating Huang Ching-Chia & Yeh Yi-Tian of Chinese Taipei 3-1 (11-4, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8) in the final.

Green won two of his three group matches in the singles and then defeated Martin Sip of the Czech Republic 3-2 (12-14, 14-12, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7) in a real arm-wrestle in the last 16. He was defeated in the quarter-finals by Wang Chen-You of Chinese Taipei.

Green & Earley started with a 3-2 (9-11, 5-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-6) win over Choi Jiwook (KOR) & Weronika Bobek (POL) in the mixed, followed by a quarter-final victory over Kwon Hyuk (KOR) & Lucie Mobarek (FRA) by a 3-1 (12-10, 11-9, 7-11, 11-3) margin.

They were defeated 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-9) in the semi-finals by Borna Petek of Croatia & Natalia Bogdanowicz of Poland.

Hursey reached the quarter-finals in the girls’ singles, and her victory over Earley in the group stage eliminated the Irish girl at that stage.

Green & David Szantosi of Hungary teamed up in the boys’ doubles and had a bye into the quarter-finals, where they were defeated in four by a Czech pair.
