Sophie Earley is looking forward to representing England on the international stage after her switch from Ireland was confirmed by the ITTF.

Sophie and her family moved from Northern Ireland to England in January after she was selected to be part of the GB training programme.

The 17-year-old has now formally become an English player after the request to change eligibility process was completed.

While Sophie will not be eligible for selection to represent England at the World and European Championships (Team and Individual) until 2028, she will immediately be eligible for selection for Team GB.

Sophie said: “I’m thrilled to start a new chapter of my table tennis career representing England.

“As a nation that has produced many of the UK’s strongest players over past decades, I hope I can become one of those too.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity and I will do my best to make it count.”
