European champion Rob Davies heads a squad of 13 athletes from the British Para Table Tennis Team’s Performance and Pathway squads that will compete in next week’s ITTF World Para Future Region de Murcia 2026 in Spain from October 6-9.

The Welshman (pictured above), who won Paralympic gold in Rio 2016, will be hoping to follow up the gold medal that he won in the men’s class 1 singles at the World Para Elite Yvelines in France last month as he continues his preparation for the World Para Championships in November.

“It’s always a good feeling winning,” said Davies. “I really enjoyed France and I just hope that I can keep the level up for the Worlds now. The idea of going to Spain was originally to consolidate my world ranking but some of the players we were expecting to go to Spain aren’t going which has changed things a bit, although it will be good match practice anyway.

“I trained over in Spain earlier this year and they told me they were having a tournament there at the end of the year, so I’ve been looking forward to it, and it should be a good competition.”

The full British squad for the ITTF World Para Future Region de Murcia 2026 (October 6-9) is: Theo Bishop (class 7), Rob Davies (class 1), Nathan Drayner (class 1), Max Flint (class 10), Ryan Henry (class 8), Thomas Hepburn (class 5), Jack Hunter-Spivey, (class 5), Lowri Hurd (class 9), Paul Karabardak (class 6), Bethany Kelf (class 3), Bailey Page (class 7), Daniel Thomson (class 6), Jacob Wicks (class 5).
