Mike Smith (pictured above) has been appointed President of British Para Table Tennis, and Sabina Vecko, the widow of former Performance Director Gorazd Vecko, becomes a Vice President.

Former Chair Karen Tonge OBE also becomes a Vice President. The appointments follow an Extraordinary General Meeting of BPTT last month.

A BPTT statement says: “Mike Smith has served British Para Table Tennis for more than 20 years, holding the roles of Company Secretary, Board Advisor, and Vice President before his election as President.

“Throughout his tenure, he has supported athletes and staff and played a valuable role in all aspects of the sport, making a lasting impact on the organisation.

“Sabina Vecko has long provided vital support to British Para Table Tennis. Her unwavering support over the past 16 years was instrumental in enabling her husband, Gorazd Vecko MBE, to deliver his inspirational leadership as Performance Director – a leadership that helped shape the success of our programme. We remain deeply grateful for their combined contribution to the sport.

“Karen Tonge OBE served as Chair of British Para Table Tennis for nine years and has supported the organisation and the wider sport for many more, contributing her experience and commitment to its growth and success.

“We thank Mike, Sabina, and Karen for their continued commitment to British Para Table Tennis and the sport, and wish them every success in their new appointments.”
