Table Tennis England was on the ground at this week’s Youth Sport Trust Summit in Telford, connecting with key education and sport leaders to grow the game in schools nationwide.

With table tennis now confirmed as a Wave 2 sport in the School Games, this national platform was the perfect opportunity to showcase our ambition to bring the sport to more young people across the country.
A Stronger Role in School Games
Our inclusion in Wave 2 means table tennis will play a bigger role in School Games events from 2025 onwards. At the Summit, we met with School Games Organisers (SGOs) to begin shaping how the sport will be delivered, promoted and supported at a local level.
“We’re working closely with SGOs to ensure table tennis is not just visible but impactful in schools,” said Alan Lane, Area Manager at Table Tennis England. “This is a huge opportunity to embed the sport in PE and extracurricular activity nationwide.”

TT Kidz: More Bats in More Hands
A key driver of this growth will be TT Kidz – our fun, engaging programme designed to give children their first taste of table tennis in a supportive and structured environment. Through TT Kidz, we’re equipping schools and community groups with the resources, training and equipment they need to deliver high-quality sessions.
“TT Kidz will be fundamental in getting more bats into youngsters’ hands,” added Alan Lane. “It’s not just about talent development – it’s about participation, confidence and creating positive first experiences.”

What’s Next?
With table tennis gaining momentum in the education sector, we’re committed to building strong partnerships with SGOs, schools, and local networks to make the sport as accessible and inclusive as possible.
Whether it’s through School Games events or TT Kidz programmes, our aim is simple: more children playing more table tennis more often.
