The draws are today released for the Mark Bates Ltd Cadet & Under-17 Nationals in Nottingham next month.

Several defending champions, or those who have won titles at other age groups, will feature in the competition at the David Ross Sports Village, Nottingham, on the weekend of 8-9 March.

Both boys’ age groups will see the defending champion as top seed, with Ralph Pattison heading the Under-17 field and Abraham Sellado the Cadets.

In the girls’ singles competitions, U17 champion Tianer Yu is no longer eligible, so the top seed will be Ella Pashley, who was defeated by Yu in last year’s final and appeared alongside her for England seniors at the European Championships qualifying tournament last month.

Second seed in the Under-17s is Sienna Jetha, who won the Cadet title last year and now steps up to the higher age group. The top seed in the Cadet age group is Hannah Saunders, a previous Under-11 and Under-13 national champion.

The competition features singles and doubles categories in both age groups, as well as Mixed Doubles in the Under-17s. The Under-17s play on the Saturday and the Cadets on the Sunday.

Pattison & Isaac Kingham will aim to defend the Under-17 Boys’ Doubles title, while Pashley will aim to win the girls’ category alongside Jetha – Pashley won with the now-ineligible Mabel Shute last year. Top seeds in the new Mixed category are Kingham & Pashley.

Sellado & Kacper Piwowar will be top seeds as they aim to defend the Cadet Boys’ Doubles title, while the corresponding girls’ competition will have new names on the trophy as the pairing of Jetha & Mauli Shah are not eligible to defend. Saunders and Amber Lemmon, last season’s U12 Girls’ Doubles champions, are the top seeds.
