Table tennis royalty met actual royalty this week as Delyth North, former Welsh International and Maidstone table tennis champion, was invited to attend the prestigious King’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 14th May 2025.

A true ambassador for the sport, Delyth is a founding member of the new Maidstone Table Tennis Club and continues to give back to the game that took her around the world—including appearances at European, Commonwealth, and World Championships. Now a key figure in the Veteran British League, she balances elite competition with community impact.

Delyth’s contributions extend well beyond the table. A passionate PE teacher at East Borough Primary School, she runs an after-school table tennis club and organises a wide range of sporting events to give every child a chance to get active and try something new.

Her recognition at the Garden Party shines a spotlight on the vital role volunteers and local champions play in growing table tennis across the country—especially at grassroots level.

Alan Lane, Area Manager at Table Tennis England, praised Delyth’s impact:
“Delyth is the perfect example of how one person can make a massive difference. She’s inspiring the next generation, supporting her club, and still competing at a high level. Her invitation to the Garden Party is thoroughly deserved.”

Maidstone youngsters can train with Delyth and other dedicated coaches every Tuesday evening at the Maidstone Club. She’s especially keen to encourage more girls to get involved and discover the benefits of table tennis—fun, fitness and friendship.
